Anne Keighley has a proposal for the Earl of Hawthorne, a strange one at that. After Lady Anne marries the Earl, she decides her friend Felicity Mercer can use the house while she is in London for a visit. Felicity meets the Earl's cousin, Lord Colford, who by the way is unbelievably attractive. He ensnares her heart. She has no idea how this has happened - Felicity's offer never included love. A whirlwind of a young woman shows up at the Earl's house claiming she is his ward - Georgiana Baxter, trying to escape an arranged marriage. Lord Hawthorne hides Georgiana in the house with a chaperone. One night she takes a stroll in the back garden and runs into a very handsome soldier, a friend of Hawthorne's who has just come home. Fate has a way of bringing these two together. What a light enjoyable story, full of humor, witty lines and lots of hot passionate romance. It's a book to make you smile, and it's hard to put down for sure. I really liked how Leigh intermingled the three stories and look forward to more of her books.
