Spearheaded by the Task Force I Fury: 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division and augmented by Scots Guards, Royal commandos and an Afghan battalion, the assault turned into a three day battle to dislodge about 2,000 Taliban fighters from their heavily fortified positions. It was one of the biggest and bloodiest battles of the war up to that time. This book chronicles the fight from the preliminary airstrikes to the night landing of coalition forces and then the house by house assault to retake and secure the city. Stephen Grey's account of the battle is accompanied by 17 photos and seven maps. Anyone interested in military history and the current war in Afghanistan will find this a fascinating and informative book.
