Also like mysteries with lots of suspense and intrigue? Then Absolute Risk is the novel for you. I do not understand the financial world or really like to read about it. Strangely, I loved Absolute Risk and felt that I understood what was going on and that I was in on the real thing. I also wondered how much of the real thing is portrayed. Scary! We're talking about naming names recognized throughout the world. And about such big fraudulent banking as to make the U.S. downturn seem irrelevant. Graham Gage, PI, is trying to get his wife, and students who traveled with her, out of China after an earthquake has destroyed a great deal of the area they were visiting. Most of the destruction is blamed on shoddy construction and inferior materials. The bottom line here is that graft and corruption are alive and flourishing in China just as they do in most countries. The poverty stricken in China have decided to rebel and Gage's wife Faith is right in the middle of the turmoil. The plot takes many turns, each turn bringing more money laundering and people at risk. This is an exciting book as well as being troubling. What is happening to us and what repercussions will it have for our children and great-grandchildren? I'm looking forward to the birth of twin great-grandchildren and tremble for them.
