More or Less Investigations is licensed through the Department of Agriculture of the State of Florida! That alone leads the readers of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff to have a clue that things may not go the way the PIs had hoped. We've met Skip and James in previous novels by Don Bruns – Stuff to Spy For, Stuff Dreams Are Made Of, Stuff to Die For. Time may have passed for these two, but it has not increased their brain power. They are approached by a carnival owner to ferret out who may be sabotaging the carnival's rides. There have been accidents, with one death. The two are eager to take on the task. They're broke and James' beloved box truck has died. The first person they meet is the man who runs Winnie Pugh's Petting Zoo. Winston Pugh is a dwarf. While not making fun of Winnie, Bruns manages to use the man's height to snag a laugh or two. Winnie owns a big shaggy dog named Garcia who plays a big part in the story. James and Skip are talked into taking a ride on the Dragon's Tail. This almost has them running from the fair grounds at breakneck speed. However, they stick to their word to find the culprit or culprits by next day's sundown. The plot thickens and it's hard to know whether to laugh or hold your breath. Excitement is interspersed with humor. The characters are really cool – whether bad or good. There are, of course, some romantic moments. They're young men, after all. Though the plot could use a slightly quicker pace, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff is a fun book and well worth the read.
