Stepping to the plate once again, the North Carolina author has launched another one over the outfield wall. Safe Haven is definitely a home run! Katie, the central character of this novel, maintains a low profile in her new home of Southport, North Carolina. She doesn't want any questions asked about her past, which means the attractive young woman avoids relationships, especially romantic entanglements, at all costs. Easier said than done, Katie is first befriended by her neighbor Jo and then she finds herself falling in love with a widowed store owner with two children. Even Alex's youngsters are bewitched by Katie. Happy and content with her newly found friend and boyfriend, Katie finds her self-imposed isolation disintegrating. But her confidence is shattered when she goes for a driver's license, thus opening up the door to her past and a secret she can't share with anyone, even those closest to her. Will Katie run again and leave behind her new life and the people she really loves?
