bbey's relationship with Caspian resumes after she returns to Sleepy Hollow. She left town at the end of book one,
The Hollow
, questioning her own sanity. Now she accepts that Caspian is a shade, but doesn't know what will become of their love for each other.

bbey met Caspian and Ben at her best friend's funeral in book one. She also found Kristen's diary where she talked about a boyfriend she called 'D.' In
The Haunted
Abbey discovers who Kristen's psychotic boyfriend is, and finds herself in danger. Abbey's friendship with Ben continues in spite of Caspian's jealousy. Ben is tutoring her to bring up her science grade.
O
ne subplot involves Abbey's plans to take a few business classes and open a perfume shop in Sleepy Hollow after she graduates. She even has shop space picked out, if it just stays empty until then. She meets two estate agents, newcomers to Sleepy Hollow. They give Abbey the creeps, although she's not sure why. Her mother, who is deep into town politics and charities, welcomes them with open arms. She invites them to dinner along with Kristen's parents. The evening is uncomfortable and confusing for Abbey.

his second book in Verday's trilogy is more suspenseful than book one and the love story between Abbey and Caspian heats up. However, the ending to
The Haunted
is abrupt and annoying. I enjoy cliffhangers, but I think each book in a series should stand alone. The third book will be out next year so I guess we'll have to wait to see how things turn out and which of Abbey's plans for the future will occur.
