A
ttorney and former FBI agent Sloane Burbank finds herself in a precarious situation when her own and her father's secrets come home to roost.
A
fter her parents' New York apartment is burglarized and her mother is attacked and a Monet painting is stolen, Sloane is surprised by her father's reaction. The theft is really a warning and indication that something that happened decades ago in Hong Kong has resurfaced.
A
s some of his friends who were also involved in the event are murdered, Sloane's father realizes he is next, so he shares the secret he's concealed for too many years. Troubled by what her art dealing parent tells her, Sloane hopes that her lover, FBI Special Agent Derek Parker, won't be assigned to the investigation of the valuable painting's theft.
O
bviously, that isn't going to happen. Now Sloane must deal with her father's precarious situation, some of her own secrets, and the danger that all of this could destroy her relationship with Derek.
A
n integral part of this thriller involves off-shore gangs and art fraud, so if that's a combination you find irresistible, this is a novel you'll relish. Andrea Kane sat down with an art-theft program manager who
opened the door of the Art Crime Team
for her so she could do her research. The author's efforts make this novel as authentic as possible and follow how such crimes are handled.
