came across an older mystery novel in my bookcase the other day and didn't remember reading it. After a wonderful but time-consuming read by Pat Conroy, I needed the whimsy of a cozy mystery. Fun!

is by Willard Scott, that popular weather man on the
Today Show
in days gone by. He had help in the writing by Bill Crider, a mystery writer of note in his own right.
B
efore his retirement, protagonist Stanley Waters was a weatherman – what else? He now owns and runs a bed and breakfast –
Blue Skies
– in Virginia near D.C.. A group of Civil War reenacters wish to use the countryside to hold their annual do. Little does Stanley expect that he will be shot by a minie ball and a local businessman killed by the same ball.
T
hus ensues the search for the reason for the attack. As well as to discover who was actually the intended victim - Stanley or the businessman?
Murder in the Mist
is a fun read, with plenty of humor, a bit of intrigue, and the spark of a renewed love affair.
