She devotes her formative years to her career and rises to the top of the business world as president of Vespa Corporation. Her current project is the construction of a spaceship designed to protect Earth from imminent attack by the Tribes. When she discovers that the engineer in charge, Jordan McArthur, has lied to her about his background, she confronts him demanding an explanation. Before she can order him off the ship, however, she and a motley assortment of techies who are on board helping Jordan fine tune the craft, are thrust light years away from Earth and deep into Tribes territory. Jordan is on a mission of his own to find and reclaim an ancient artefact that can save Earth and the rest of the galaxy from annihilation by the power hungry Tribes. Now that he has finally acquired his long lost staff, the object that is also powering Vivianne's spacecraft, he's determined to recover the Holy Grail. Only by uniting it and his magical staff will the inexorable advance of the Tribes be stopped. Unfortunately, Jordan hadn't counted on Vivianne's demanding and distracting presence on this last ditch mission to save Earth. While the conclusion to Kearney's Arthurian-based trilogy ties up all the loose ends nicely enough, the chemistry between Jordan and Vivianne falls flat. Their too-frequent, frantic, magic-induced couplings are overdone to the point that their eventual declarations of love feel forced. Even so, Kearney puts an inventive galactic twist to the legend of King Arthur and his knights of the round table, making Jordan a fast-paced, action-packed and generally enjoyable space opera.
