ane Day is at the bus station when Slade Luckadeau's grandmother Nellie sees her sitting on the bench. Jane needs a job for six weeks and to stay out of sight. Nellie offers to take her home, give her a job, and a place to stay.

ane is hiding out from her stepfather and also her fiancé (the night before the wedding she discovered that he was cheating on her). Her stepfather has put a hit out on her so that he can take over the oil business that was Jane's mother's before she died. There are only six weeks before Jane's twenty fifth birthday when she can take over the business.

lade Luckadeau is furious that his grandmother not only drove, but also brought home Jane whom he believes to be a con artist. Jane and Slade are like oil and water but are also attracted to each other. Slade has a girlfriend who has a nasty nature - when she finally pushes Jane over the edge, Jane punches her. Slade can't believe that she did that and admires her feisty attitude.

lade's grandmother and her friends are trying to get Slade and Jane together but he does not appreciate their matchmaking efforts. But when he finds out that Jane is in danger he takes her away and can't resist falling in love with her.

he characters in
One Lucky Cowboy
are funny and endearing. Slade and Jane have an attraction but Slade does not trust her at first. Carolyn Brown's fantastic writing style reels readers in to her tales of the sexy Luckadeau cowboys.
