Ecstasy Unveiled: A Demonica Novel    by Larissa Ione Order:  USA  Can Forever, 2010 (2010) Paperback, e-Book     Reviewed by Martina Bexte The last time we met Lore, a Seminus half-breed demon and a deadly assassin who boasts a 100% kill ratio, he'd been assigned to kill his half brothers, Eidolon, Shade and Wraith. Only problem was, he wasn't aware he had any siblings other than his sister. Lore manages to make his excuses about his failure to eliminate his brothers, but when it comes to his next hit, Lore's dark master makes it very clear that he will not tolerate another screw up. If that should happen, not only will Lore remain his slave for another century, his sister's life will also be forfeit. Idess is an earthbound angel assigned to protect primori, humans and demons alike whose lives are integral to the future. Each time she's successful, her final ascent to Heaven is that much closer. But when she finds herself having to protect not only Lore, but also his target, all hell breaks loose as both are forced to not only battle their own raging attraction, but also an old enemy from the Seminus brothers' past, who is determined to destroy them all. Ione does another great job with Lore's characterization and his various inner demons but the same can't be said for Idess. While she's a good match for Lore, her back story was never fully explored and was at times confusing, particularly with regard to her brother Rami. During their scenes together, their dialogue only alluded to their past and never fully explained why he hated his sister with such unholy fervour. Ecstasy Unveiled is still another full throttle story though, and presents a truly inspired and original mythology and a host of appealing characters, both old and new. The sensuality level remains high, but as in the past books, that aspect blends well into the premise. Ione's inventive and well written Demonica series continues to entertain its diehard fans and will undoubtedly attract a host of new readers as well.
