Robert kidnaps his adversary's daughter, Lady Mairi, and then plans to return the comely young woman after Dunwythie settles the debt. Pretending the lass has been kidnapped by a stranger, Robert enlists his brother, the local sheriff, to convince Dunwythie that once the money is received the Maxwells can locate and rescue Lady Mairi. The not-so-clever plan goes totally awry when (a) Robert falls under the spell of the fetching woman he has under lock and key and (b) her father summons the aid of the most powerful clan in all of Scotland, thus creating a volatile situation that could well spark a bloody conflict that no one really wants. The course of love is never smooth and this particular journey down Lovers' Lane is about as bumpy as it gets!
