Chef Billy Blessing handles the cooking segment on Wake Up America!, a staple of the morning TV diet for daily tube junkies. Besides dealing with the kitchen prima donnas at his Zagat-rated restaurant in Manhattan, Chef Billy must endure the personality quirks of those in his TV family. In either venue, ego is front and center no matter who you have to deal with, be it a co-host, air time guests or slighted sous chef! A master at soothing rumpled feathers, Billy suddenly finds himself in a situation that taxes his considerable talents. Not only is the show's producer found dead but the murder weapon also appears to be a batch of Billy's famous coq au vin which had been laced with poison. Finding his name at the top of the persons of interest list, the clever chef is going to don his detective's hat to figure out who is trying to frame him. The fact that the dead man not only has an impressive list of women (some married, some not) in his little black book but that he was apparently privy to some secrets he also picked up while on assignment in Afghanistan makes Billy's task all the more difficult and dangerous. Another killing underscores the seriousness of the problem Billy faces and, if he doesn't watch his step, the noted culinary expert won't be whipping many more tasty morsels for his adoring morning fans or the visitors who frequent his four-star restaurant. Combining his knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes of network television with his passion for cooking, Al Roker provides some insights that make this suspense yarn a hugely entertaining read.
