A
s
Fairy Tale
opens, Morgan Sparks certainly seems to have a
fairytale
life. She and her next door neighbor and boyfriend, Cameron Browne, have been '
attached at the hip since kindergarten
'. They were even born on the same day and plan to share a
sweet sixteen
party soon. They're popular students who love each other. Cam is '
the only sophomore on the varsity football team.
' Psychic Morgan tells her peers what's in their futures - her visions always come true.
O
vernight their idyllic relationship changes. Cam starts changing physically, in ways only Morgan can see. A weird new student shows up at school and in the Browne household - Pip Merriweather dresses and walks strangely and is considered a
freak
. Morgan wonders what is going on, but when she gets answers they raise even more questions. Turns out her boyfriend is a changeling (Pip was the human whose place he took) who's being recalled to rule the fairy kingdom - he's to cross over when he turns sixteen, but he doesn't want to leave Morgan.
M
organ desperately seeks a way to save her
true love
. She has increasing help from Pip who steadily adapts to his new environment. Morgan is delighted when they develop a plan to keep Cam from the Otherworld, but then she learns what it will cost - to both Cam and Pip - and has a tough decision to make. Cyn Balog gives readers a very different take on the paranormal relationship in
Fairy Tale
- it's sweet and funny and well worth reading.
