These feelings are sparked by a Christmas card she receives from an old college friend, who married right after graduation. Cassie and her friend Angie have tried blind dates, the Internet and even books such as Dating for Dummies but nothing seems to be working. Angie had been to a professional matchmaker, who rejected her because he knew she was in love with someone already, but suggests that he might accept Cassie as a client. When Cassie hears the idea, she mulls it over and decides to give it a try. Simon Dodson is rude and he is picky about his clientele, but he is good at what he does. He accepts Cassie as a client but is bewildered by her questions, and strangely enough attracted to her. He gives her three assignments to complete before she will be ready to meet her true love. Cassie is confused by the assignments but agrees to do them. The first assignment is ringing a bell to collect money for charity. She never knew how rude some people could be, but she gets through it. The second assignment is to dress as a Santa's elf for a children's party. An embarrassing event starts off the day but she is touched when a little girl asks Santa for an almost impossible present. The third and final assignment is to get her neighbors together and serve them a turkey dinner. She is not fond of her neighbors and does not want to do it, but in the end agrees. Cassie is pleasantly surprised when the event goes off fairly well. Cassie is almost ready for the finale when she is surprised to discover that she is already in love with someone, so she does not agree to meet her match. Simon is not happy. He tells her that she will not get a refund, but when he does not see her any longer he misses Cassie. Debbie Macomber creates wonderful stories that make readers feel warm and fuzzy. The Perfect Christmas is no exception; it offers romance and funny storylines along with characters readers won't soon forget. Debbie Macomber is a master storyteller who shows that Christmas is special to her every year when she releases a new holiday novel.
