, Chloe loses a span of time and wakes to find herself alone in a hotel room. Alone, that is, except for the dead body on the couch! Accused of murder, but released by the court, she is later rescued from invasive media by her father's best friend's grandson, Travis Naquin.

hloe still hasn't seen her father but has fallen head first into a mystery. Travis offers to help solve the murder and clear her name. Chloe needs to discover why her father was shot and who shot him. By the way, there is also a treasure that it seems a lot of people would love to uncover. Would motivate me.

weaves the streets of New Orleans tightly into the story, but the background that intrigued me even more showed up during Chloe and Travis' flight through the Everglades. It's frightening as well as exciting, as we learn there is a whole culture in those swamps.

- a good read that spends time in 1719 France as well as today. The two spans of time eventually combine to reveal the purpose of the plot, with touches of religion thrown in. A fun read.
