isdom generates chuckles with another enjoyable romance.
Hex in High Heels
is the fourth instalment of her wacky series that focuses on the lives and loves of a group of witches booted out of witches' academy during the 14th century. This time the focus is on Blair Fitzpatrick, who runs a successful vintage shop in the little town of Moonstone - and has also developed a huge crush on local carpenter, Jake Harrison.
J
ust as Blair and Jake's relationship is moving past the friendship stage into more serious territory, the unexpected arrival of Jake's estranged family throws both for a loop. His overbearing mother Vera and younger brother Roan demand Jake return home and take his place within their werewolf pack. But Jake wants nothing to do with his family - they'd made their opinion of his
shortcomings
painfully clear years before when they disowned him.
S
ince Jake refuses to heel, his family tries a different tactic - an unfriendly buyout of Blair and her sister witches that really gets their dander up. It doesn't take long for Jake's pushy relatives to find out that it's not a good idea to mess with four powerful witches whose combined talents could seriously kick some werewolf butt.
O
f the four books thus far, this is the best of the lot. Blair and Jake make a great duo, not only romantically, but also as they work together to send Jake's conniving family packing. There's another entertaining assortment of secondaries, particularly Jake's really annoying mother and brother, not to mention return engagements by the witches' wacky set of familiars.
Hex in High Heels
is another fun read that'll definitely get you in the mood for Halloween.
