Alex Konevitch was thrown out of Moscow University for indulging in his entrepreneurial tendencies when he began operating a construction business out of his dorm room. Now, thanks to his financial ability, Alex is worth over $300 million and is a major force behind the new government. Unfortunately, in the new Russia, Kid Midas, as he's called, has become a target for some envious individuals who want to relieve the entrepreneur of his vast wealth.

As some of his top executives are murdered, Konevitch makes a critical mistake - he hires a former KGB man to handle his corporate security. After being kidnapped and forced to relinquish his holdings to those he thought would protect him, Konevitch is on the run.

In his novel, aptly entitled The Hunted, Brian Haig follows this Russian businessman's flight to the U.S.. Hoping to find a safe haven for his family, Konevitch is shocked to discover he has been accused by his own government of stealing millions from his own business.

As he continues in the life of a fugitive, the Russian not only has to dodge the contract killers hired by his own country to eliminate him, but the FBI is in hot pursuit as well. So much for building a new life in America. Now it's a simple matter of staying one step ahead of those who want to either arrest or assassinate him and if Alex Konevitch can't prove his innocence, the situation will end badly. Very badly indeed!

A former special assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the son of former U.S. Secretary of State Alexander Haig, the author partially bases his international intrigue thriller on the incredible story of Alex Konanykhin, a Russian businessman who earned great wealth only to become the target of his own government.

As with his earlier works of fiction, Haig not only shows he knows how to tell a compelling story but he's also become a very proficient master of the suspense genre. Those who enjoyed the author's series featuring JAG attorney Sean Drummond will find The Hunted equally entertaining.
