T
wo of the Deadliest
is a new collection of suspense and horror stories edited by bestselling author Elizabeth George. The
two
of the title refers to the passionate emotions of lust and greed, the motivating factor in the twenty-three short stories of the collection. Five of the stories are penned by new authors; the balance composed by long-time favorites such as Laura Lippman, Carolyn Hart, and the editor, Elizabeth George.
O
ne of my favorites was
Can You Hear Me Now?
by Marcia Talley, about a man who just won't stop yakking on that cell phone. It has an amusing justice-serving twist at the end. Another favorite was one crafted by Elizabeth George titled
Lusting for Jenny, Inverted
, which the reader will want to keep in mind if any estate settling is in the future.
O
ther stories find their innocent protagonists caught in compromising situations and without any hope of proving their innocence. Well, at least they claim they're innocent. Now if that doesn't leave your mind rattled, I don't know what will. This eclectic collection has something for everyone, even a couple of classic mysteries for lovers of tradition. Enjoy!
