But once marked, there's no way out - it's her punishment for falling in love with Alec Cain, God's top mark and a sinner who has his own higher agenda, one that he's determined will include the love of his life, Evangeline Hollis. But both Eve and Alec's plans for a normal relationship must be put on hold as Eve learns the finer points of saving her soul, while caught in the middle of Cain and hated brother Abel's long-standing sibling rivalry. Eve of Darkness is the crackerjack and nicely plotted kick-off to an urban fantasy series that offers a very engaging heroine in Eve, and puts a unique twist on the relationship between feuding brothers Cain and Abel. While there are plenty of biblical references throughout, Day doesn't hit readers over the head with them, but rather puts a modern 21st century spin on bible stories with which we're all familiar. Equally interesting is the dynamic of the powerful earthbound archangels (assigned to oversee the Marks and their handlers) as they work to make their individual corporations the best in the world, either to curry favour with Jehovah, or for more secretive personal agendas. Paranormal fans will definitely want to get their hands on the next two instalments of this unique, action packed and sexy new series. Eve of Destruction and Eve of Chaos should be available at your local bookseller right about now.
