he twins and their mother Jess leave Vancouver for Grampa and Gramma Starr's cattle ranch in Arizona. Grampa's slowing down a bit, and Gramma's got some medical problems the doctors are investigating, so they ask Jess and the girls to help out. Although Liv and Sophia are twins, their different personalities come to the fore in the challenges they face at the ranch.

rampa Starr's stallion Diego is missing, and the herd of mares and foals hasn't returned to the ranch either. Shane, the sixteen-year-old ranch hand, heads out with the girls and his collie Tux looking for them. Along the way Sophie's bitten by a rattlesnake and suffers other misadventures. The three discover a diabolical plan to steal the Starr-Lopez herd, and must do everything in their power to thwart the thieves.
