Amanda Benson, Meadow Brook Middle School's Queen Bee, doesn't like to feel sorry for people. That is the main reason she is the Queen of Mean. When she feels sorry for someone like Tracy Devon, she ends up inside her body. Not a good feeling for Amanda who makes fun of her classmate whenever she sees her.

At thirteen, Amanda's learned to put her feelings aside and stay safely inside her own body. Whatever is making Tracy Devon so seriously pathetic, Amanda doesn't want to know about it. Unfortunately something about Tracy triggers her sympathy and she can't stop thinking about her. She knows her sympathy has gone too far when she wakes up in Tracy's body. Feeling sorry for someone means losing control.

Now she'll find out firsthand what it means to be Tracy. She's known Tracy since third grade. When did she become such a loser? Not even Tracy's own parents notice her, but why doesn't Tracy stand up for herself? Tracy has a gift – but not one a girl like Tracy needs. When Tracy feels invisible she becomes invisible. With Out of Sight, Out of Mind - told by Amanda and Jenna alternately - the Gifted series is off to a great start.
