While she can't identify their faces, their attire or jewelry, she can see their surroundings and hear their conversations. In this, the third of the Bernadette series by Terri Persons, a young woman is found dead in the Minnesota woods, her baby having been torn from her pregnant body. Bernadette and her partner are given the task of solving the death and of soothing the dead girl's father who is a United States senator. The man is throwing his considerable weight around to get the FBI off the case. What could be the reason for that? The disturbing thing about the case is the pentagram that was drawn on the victim's forehead. There are witches in the neighboring town. The sheriff tells the FBI that they are peace loving people who simply march to a different drummer. He has been trying to keep their existence quiet as he fears violent discrimination. Now this! As Bernadette and Garcia question everyone they can, they are often aware that they are being told lies or the person questioned is being evasive. They realize there is more to this case than meets the eye. Of course, realizing that does not solve a case. I've enjoyed this series. I think the gift that Bernadette has is a clever addition. The characters are believable. Terri Persons' Blind Sight is a novel for good summer reading.
