T
he back cover of this tale of a very unusual private eye tells us that '
Mark Genevich is a South Boston PI with a slight problem
'. He suffers from narcolepsy! More than slight to my mind. He suffers from hallucinations as well as the unstoppable curse of falling sleep at odd times. The depiction of this man driving a car catches the breath in the throat.

enevich is approached in his office by a woman who wants him to find her fingers. Needless to say, he is hallucinating but is left with a few clues he had evidently scribbled on his desk pad while under the spell of his infirmity. Risqué photos become an important part of the plot. So do Genevich's late father's boyhood friends. Little by little, one happening leads to another and Genevich is put to the test. Can this flawed man really do the job he wants to do without falling asleep at an inopportune moment?

he Little Sleep
has an intriguing storyline that kept me turning the pages long after I should have turned out my light. At the risk of being accused of using clichés,
The Little Sleep
is a
sleeper
. Author Mark Tremblay is working on a sequel and I, for one, plan to be first in line for my copy.
