Police detective Catherine Laurence helps him in his odyssey to find his daughter – a trail that takes them across France and to the Czech Republic.

eath and destruction seem to follow Megan, a journalist, as she looks for leads to what could be the story of a lifetime and could prevent the death or maiming of millions. The plot of
A World I Never Made
is tightly written, the characters fully rounded, with real convictions for their actions. The thought of Muslim terrorists with the goal of reclaiming what had been their empire hundreds of years ago is frightening to contemplate. Action appeared when appropriate to move the storyline ahead.

ut ... and I hate to use the word ... somehow the story didn't work for me. I didn't feel the sense of urgency that a thriller demands. The novel moved slowly from one scene to the next and never made me turn the pages quickly. That said, it was readable. For a first novel, it has a lot going for it.
