These are short stories to set you on the edge of your chair, about people who take justice into their own hands, about guilty people who are punished, and about those who escape the blindfolded lady holding the scales of justice. Bestselling author Linda Fairstein edited these excellent contributions to the mystery circuit. Fairstein, who is the author of many bestselling novels, presents her first mystery short story, entitled Going Under. Between the covers are stories written by other well-known authors including Phillis Cohen, Angela Zeman, Jo Dereske, Kate Gallison, and Michele Martinez. There are short biographies of the authors in the back of the book. One of my favorites is Red Dog by Anita Page. It is about an abused mother and daughter, and its surprise ending is indeed that. A Clerk's Life by Barbara Parker is unsettling as is Mom is My Co-counsel by Paul Levine. And Quality of Mercy by Leigh Lundin might make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
