Amber makes sure she becomes one of the boys, never giving in to her feminine side. She first met her police partner, Warren Jensen, when she was a teen playing on her high school football team - a team that was boys only until Amber came along. Ten years Amber's senior, Jensen has a back-story of his own and refuses to allow any woman into his tightly closed shell. But of course, Amber is just another one of the guys. Amber's father Zeke has served fifteen years in prison for the death of his partner during a robbery. Every year he receives a letter signed by his dead partner's wife. Zeke stopped opening the letters years ago. Upon Zeke's parole Amber became responsible for her father, even taking him into her small apartment. She has trouble reconciling this broken man with the loving father who left her fifteen years before. Small things lead Amber and Jensen to believe Zeke knows where the bulk of the money stolen from the robbery is hidden. Someone doesn't want them to find the money and will go to any lengths to get it. Does the fifteenth letter hold the secret? Or is Zeke crafty enough to keep it from everyone for all this time? Amber remembers a puzzle she and her father invented and built years ago before he went to prison. She believes the puzzle is the key to the location of the stolen money. But she must find it before someone else figures out the answers. This is a gripping drama about a girl who lost her father at a young age, now trying to be a tough cop who doesn't need any man in her life, not her father and not her partner. Zeke leads Amber and others searching for the money on a merry chase that puts Amber's life in danger. The book is well written and suspenseful. The Fifteenth Letter is the third in the Falcon's Bend series (following Degrees of Separation and Tears on Stone).
