Deep Waters
by Kate Charles, readers return to England and Anglican curate Callie Anson. In this third novel in the series, Detective Inspector Neville Stewart is recalled from his honeymoon, much to the displeasure of his bride Tronia. Muffin, the newborn of celebrities Jodee and Chaz, has been found dead in her crib. Accusations are flying through the air as reporters seethe outside, trying to pick up a hint of scandal.
C
allie's boyfriend (at least she hopes he is that) Mark Lombardi acts as police liaison officer for the grieving family. When murder hits his own family, he is relieved of his duties. The plot picks up even more with unanswered questions that keep the reader guessing. The pace is quick and sure with a well-written story that keeps pages turning quickly.
C
allie is a very likeable character as are the people surrounding her. Well, maybe not the pastor's wife. But not everyone can be agreeable. The coverage given the celebrities should pick at our own consciences as we digest the latest in scandal sheets. Not all is always as it seems.
