aranormal romances seem to be all the rage these days. The latest, fun YA offering is Stacey Jay's
You Are So Undead to Me
. There are no vampires in this one, but plenty of zombies, teen angst, and homecoming dilemmas.
M
egan Berry inherited her zombie settling abilities from her mother, but she is not happy about them. After a violent attack from reanimated corpses when she was ten, Megan's powers seemed to have faded. Now, five years later, they are back, and stronger than ever. Megan does not remember too much about the night she was attacked, other than the fact that annoying, popular Monica (now the senior co-captain of Carol High's pom squad) was there. However, as zombies reappear, Megan starts to remember more, especially with the help of her former best friend Ethan, a college hottie and fellow Settler.
B
ut remembering will not stop the zombies, both regular and reanimated, from coming, so Megan must quickly get back into the swing of being a Settler. As zombie attacks increase, Megan begins to realize that someone does not want her to go to Homecoming. No one will believe that this is the reason behind the recent attacks by reanimated corpses, so Megan must use her inept sleuthing clues to get to the bottom of the mystery if she wants to live to see her sixteenth birthday.

ou Are So Undead to Me
starts off rather slowly, but once it picks up, it is a roller coaster ride of emotions (and zombies). Jay does an amazing job of capturing Megan's thoughts and feelings on paper. While most readers cannot relate to being hunted by zombies, they can relate to Megan's other woes, which makes her a very human character. Jay throws in a few twists along the way to keep the ride interesting while further developing the characters.
You Are So Undead to Me
is a fun read, perfect for relaxing with on a dark, dateless night. I hope Jay has more adventures for Megan and her fellow Settlers up her sleeve.
