The subtitle of this helpful book is 'Old-School Ways to Remember Stuff'. Works for me. That i before e has helped me all my life. This clever little book will help us to be more erudite as well as impress our friends and co-workers.

For example: The order of the planets can be remembered (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune) by thinking of a phrase such as My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos. Not a sentence one would use every day, but if calling to mind the planets were necessary, this little reminder might come in very handy. When I was in high school and we had to remember the positions members of the president's cabinet held, a saint's name helped me through the final test. Can't remember the key word at the moment, but it saved my hide. That was a long time ago - very long. Today, the cabinet posts have changed titles and I needn't think of it again. But it sure came in handy at the time.

There are tricks to remember how a certain word is spelled. How is Grammar spelled? There is no e in grammar. Think about GrandMA who teaches perfect grammar. Liaison is often a problem. The author says this word is dangerous and often misspelled. To spot a liaison, use your two eyes (2 I's). Maybe for some reason, you need to remember the Cranial Bones - Occipital, Parietal, Frontal, Temporal, Ethmoid, Sphenoid. Okay? Try this - Old People From Texas Eat Spiders. Not earthshaking, but a medical student would find this very handy come exam time.

All of the suggestions in this clever wee tome would come in handy for someone somewhere. If not you, maybe for someone else you know. And i before e (except after c) might also inspire you to create some helpful memory tricks of your own.
