ranky Agnes Crandall writes a newspaper cooking column and is the author of
Mob Food
, a bestselling cookbook. She's just bought a beautiful old house from an old friend and is happily planning the wedding of her goddaughter.
T
hings start to come unraveled when her fiancé, Taylor Beaufort, who bought the house with her, keeps making excuses for not moving in. Next someone tries to kidnap her dog. Cranky Agnes is called
cranky
for a reason. She uses her weapon of choice – a frying pan and whacks him in the head.
H
er friend Joey, an ex-mobster, calls in a bodyguard for her and soon Shane is doing more than just guarding her body. But what he does really does for a living keeps Agnes from falling for Shane. The bodyguard is a professional hitman.
C
rusie and Mayer's second book together is a lighthearted comedy with plenty of sex, intrigue, and characters with so much attitude they almost jump off the page. A romance between a fiery chief who is used to taking care of herself and an unapologetic hitman who has always been commitment-free offers up some tasty banter, amusing situations, and a plot with enough twists to keep Agnes and her frying pan busy.
