Her father had sold her sister to relieve his debts and now has offered Evelyn to the same man. Evelyn knows from the letters she received that her sister's life was miserable. Despairing, she jumps into the sea below. When she awakens after a rescue, she sees handsome Adam Westmore. He tells her that she is safe with him and he will protect her, but she knows better. Adam had been walking along the beach thinking of his beautiful wife, Tess, who died when her ship was hit by lightning, caught fire and sank. He blames his brother, the Duke of Webury, for what happened. He wants to avenge Tess's death but needs his brother's help to keep Evelyn safe. Evelyn has never had feelings like this for a man before, but doesn't know if she can trust him. Adam doesn't want to betray his Tess and his feelings of rage against his brother are starting to diminish, but when he arrives at his brother's house, he discovers that the pirates that raided them the night Tess died are now the Duke's brothers-in-law and can help keep Evelyn safe. Evelyn and Adam both have demons they must face before they can be happy and Alexandra Benedict bring readers along on an adventurous ride before her captivating ending. She offers a wonderful story of adventure, danger and passion in Too Dangerous to Desire, a great book to have in your beach bag for an afternoon read.
