velyn Waye would rather end her life, by throwing herself off the cliff into the sea below, than marry the depraved prince she believes killed her sister. Her father had sold her sister to relieve his debts and now has offered Evelyn to the same man. Evelyn knows from the letters she received that her sister's life was miserable. Despairing, she jumps into the sea below. When she awakens after a rescue, she sees handsome Adam Westmore. He tells her that she is safe with him and he will protect her, but she knows better.
