S
ixteen-year-old Raeanne and Kaeleigh are identical twins, mirror images of each other. Daddy is a respected district court judge and Mother is a successful politician. To outsiders theirs is an all-American family. But that picture-perfect family hides cracks that will be deadly if they snap.
D
addy's guilty little secret is his sexual abuse of Kaeleigh. Raeanne watches, jealous that he didn't choose her even thought she knows what he is doing is evil and distorts real love. Mother is always away on the campaign trail. She doesn't want to know anything that might lose her an election.
R
aeanne finds her escape in drugs and inappropriate men who use and abuse her. Kaeleigh's rebellion is quieter, but just as deadly. She's into purging and cutting.
H
opkins uses the alternating voices of the twins and free verse to tell the story of a family on the edge of destruction. Sharp writing conveys the emotional tension that will carry readers along to a flawless ending.
