Fans (of all ages) of James Patterson's bestselling Maximum Ride books will dive into this new Daniel X series, written with Michael Ledgwidge. Take a teen Superman and blend in a Men in Black plot medley and you'll end up with something very like The Dangerous Days of Daniel X.

Like Superman, Daniel, son of Graff and Atrelda, is fast and strong. His parents came to Earth from Alpar Nok, 'the home of the Alien Hunters', to protect mankind from the evil Outer Ones. Unfortunately, one of the latter (a 'repugnant freak' called The Prayer) slaughters Daniel's mom and dad when the young genius is only three years old. Shapeshifting saves the boy from instant death and he safeguards 'The List of Alien Outlaws on Terra Firma that the alien was after.

The main story starts after Daniel X turns fifteen. In between socializing with a family and friends that he materializes (by manipulating 'the universal force') when needed from his powerful imagination, Daniel has been hunting aliens on The List. After taking down #19 in Portland, he heads to California, seeking #6, Ergent Seth. At the local high school, Daniel falls hard for lovely, blue-eyed Sarah and - in between avoiding attacks from the alien who seems to know exactly who and where he is - hangs out with her at every opportunity.

Of course, it turns out that dealing with #6 is in no way as easy as Daniel X anticipates - the smooth and slimy Tinseltown demon is always ahead of him, pulling surprises out of the air at every turn. After the conflict moves off planet, Daniel X learns more about his own powers and heritage, and wins an elephantine victory over his enemy. For readers who can suspend disbelief big-time, The Dangerous Days of Daniel X is wild and wooly fun.
