creator Nanae Chrono, I was expecting something completely different when I started reading. Yes,
Vassalord
does have a lot of the action I anticipated, but it also has something I was not expecting, thinking it was aimed at guys – BL (boy love)!
Vassalord
is a manga full of vampires (and cyborg vampires) that definitely has a lot for the ladies.
C
harley spends his time hunting vampires for the Vatican – despite the fact that he, himself, is a cyborg vampire. There is, however, one vampire he will not kill: his Master, drinking vessel, and possible lover, Johnny. Together, the two fight evil vampires and become embroiled in religious conspiracies.
V
assalord
is full of action, humor, and darkness. Chrono has a definite drawing-style that lends itself well to this type of story, with just the right amount of screentone. He also does an excellent job showing the tension between Charley and Johnny, which female readers (who enjoy shonen-ai) will devour.
Vassalord
is definitely one of those books you cannot judge by its cover. It does have the darkness that the cover promises, but Nanae Chrono has included so much more in this fun tale.
