The format is different from the calendar norm, featuring multiple vivid photos surrounding the boxes for the days of the month, rather than one large one. Each month highlights a particular country, suggested for a year long world tour - whether in real life or from an armchair. There's a small map to remind us of the country's location, along with a summary of what's special about it. For example, Greece's entry opens, 'Few countries conjure up images as readily as Greece, the ancient home of gods and poets, philosophers and Gorgons.' Journey from Fiji to Finland, stopping en route in Venezuela, Slovenia, East Timor, Pakistan, Greece, Mongolia, Uganda, Canada, Egypt, and Thailand. I'm keeping my calendar, but it would also make an excellent gift for the world traveler on your list.
