It's hard to believe that Raffi Yessayan's Eight in the Box is a first novel. It is finely crafted, with attention paid to every tiny detail. Suspense builds from each page to the next. Characterization is tight and well wrought. I guess you have figured out that I liked the book. And I recommend it.

A Blood Bath Killer is loose in Boston. Each crime scene is the same. A single woman, living alone is missing; her bath tub is filled with the victim's blood but the woman is gone. Not to be found. What could be the thread that ties these women to the hands of a killer? Police are in a frenzy. In the meantime, normal legal business continues in the courthouse as juries sit trials. Prosecutors try cases while attorneys mount defenses for their clients. More murders plague the city. Almost everyone is suspect. Until ...

No, I can't say more. I don't want to ruin a great story by telling the ending, which will knock your socks off. Eight in the Box is a very good thriller. Don't miss it.
