T
his is the third book in the
Freedom in Christ Discipleship
series, a program containing four books, that is designed to last thirteen weeks. This book is subtitled '
Don't Let the Past Hold You Back.
' The author states that people can become desperate if they are unable to resolve difficult issues from the past.
T
he focus is on four key principles: 1)
Don't Just Cope with the Past - Resolve It
. Christian counseling, with a focus on resolution and not just how to cope, is encouraged. 2)
Take the Whole of Reality into Account
. The battle for truth is in our minds and we need to recognize that we can not save ourselves. 3)
Know Who is Responsible for What
. Seek God's guidance to carry out what you are responsible for. 4)
Listen to Your Emotions (They are trying to tell you something.)
Our emotions are a warning system to us and are determined by what we choose to believe. The book also includes suggestions on resolving past issues.
W
hile most of the book contains interesting points, it is not as easy to apply as I was expecting it to be. Perhaps it would be more applicable if it were combined with the rest of the series. Questions and prayers complement the message throughout
Break Free, Stay Free
