S
tephanie Plum is back chasing bail skippers. Joining her is her usual gang – Lula, Connie, Morelli, Ranger, Diesel, and last but never least, Grandma Mazur. Stephanie meets up with some crazies – Snuggy, steroid user Delvina and his cohort Mickey. And let's not forget Doug the racehorse.
S
tephanie is sidetracked from chasing recalcitrant lowlifes to rescue Grandma Mazur. Grandma found a duffle bag filled with money on the street and claims it for her own. Others disagree with her. Snuggy wants the money to cure his pal Doug. Delvina wants to buy his wife a big new house so she'll come back to him. Lula wants to be a supermodel and Connie just wants to do her job – even if it means shooting off a bullet or two.
D
iesel is on page more often, in this new novel of Stephanie Plum and her exploits, than either Morelli or Ranger. Although they do make appearances, they are more like walk-on parts. Action rips from one page to the next. As usual with Stephanie, cars seem to disintegrate around her. And kidnapping a horse is no easy task but Stephanie takes it in stride.
L
ula looms large, keeping her
ain't-I-just-the-cat's-meow
attitude. She would be a sight to see in her two sizes too small gold thong and gold bustier. Connie becomes a little more active than previously, and is given a tad more personality. Grandma Mazur is the hit of the show. Would that I could attain her sense of anything goes - I think I'm the right age for it.
P
oor Stephanie always starts out with a purpose in mind, but things soon get out of hand and she races around trying to put out fires.
Plum Lucky
is another fun book in the
Plum
series. Thank you, Janet Evanovich, for injecting sunshine in a cloudy day.
