Cooper Armstrong left California for Misty Harbor, Maine when he received a call to say that his father had had a heart attack there. He left behind the ex who cheated on him with his best friend. In Maine, he takes a job as the new UPS man, making many deliveries to Jenni Wright's house. Her sons are holy terrors. After almost hitting them one day, Cooper meets Jenni trying to coax the family dog out from under the porch after her middle son's latest escapade of making believe that the dog is a dragon. Cooper realizes that the porch has dry rot and comes back to fix it.

Jenni lost her husband three years ago when he went back into a fire to save a coworker. She moved to the village of Mistletoe Bay along with her three sons, mother-in-law Dorothy and sister-in-law Felicity. Jenni is grateful that Dorothy moved out with her to help with the boys while she starts her new soapmaking business. She is also grateful for Coop's help fixing up the house, especially as he takes only Dorothy's cooking as payment.

As Jenni and Coop spend time together, they realize they are falling in love. Jenni can't imagine Coop staying around her rambunctious sons and the chaos they create. Coop can't believe how well he fits in with Jenni's family. He has fallen in love with Jenni and the boys have rapidly found places in his heart. He has even come to care for Dorothy and Felicity. Troubled times come as Felicity is terrorized by her nephews and then horrified to discover that her mother may start dating. Can Jenni and Coop muddle through the chaos and make everyone happy, including themselves?

Though Mistletoe Bay is part of a series, it also works well as a stand alone. I have not read the other Misty Harbor family romances but was not lost. Mistletoe Bay is a wonderfully written book with fun characters and funny adventures that keep you reading with a smile. This is a warm and cozy romance and I can't wait to get to Marcia Evanick's other stories.
