Seventeen-year-old Jasmine, her parents, her uncle and her obnoxious cousin are spending their family vacation together in Las Vegas. Jas doesn't expect to enjoy herself, just make her dad happy by appearing to be a perfect daughter.

On her first morning there, Jasmine is tanning with her cousin when she sees an incredibly sexy young man across the pool. Unfortunately, he comes her way just before she and a wayward cat manage to disrupt a wedding by crashing into the table with the wedding cake and pushing the bride into the swimming pool.

Because the cat, Mad Joe, belongs to eight-year-old Fred whose mother is celebrity Fiona Bristol, Jasmine is given a pass by hotel management. Fiona Bristol is keeping a low profile while her dangerous husband is on the loose. He skipped bail while on trial for murder. Soon Jas becomes a major player in solving a murder and keeping Fred safe. Her worried friends drive out from California to provide help.

The story is far from plausible and somewhat predictable but the characters are anything but. Full of quirky personalities and contemporary slang, Bad Kitty is one of those books that you continue reading because you fall in love with the over-the-top characters and their fast paced, comical dialog.
