A
n unlikely pair of outcasts is recruited by the Las Vegas police department to help solve crimes that are beyond comprehension. Detective Susan Pulaski, a behaviorist, has been canned for her unconventional and subversive ways. Darcy O'Bannon, a twenty-four year old savant, just happens to be the Chief's son. Together, though unorthodox, they form an unbeatable team.
T
errible crimes are being committed and seem to have a numerical connection to a mystery that stretches back hundreds of years. Since Darcy's great skills are mostly in the mathematical field (he can tell you how many rivets are in the Eiffel Tower and almost anything else that involves math in any way) he is invaluable to Susan, who has been asked to please return to the department to help with this case. She has her own demons to chase – the question is, has she substituted drugs for the alcohol she had wallowed in when life took a really bad downturn? The backdrop of the city of Las Vegas is a story in itself.
I
