Matt is one of those teens who is always around, but never noticed. He's spent his high school career avoiding attention. Not that he's shy. He just likes to keep a low profile.

During Matt's senior year the school wacko notices him and likes what she sees. Multi-tattooed and pieced, smart but insane, beautiful but dangerous, Skye Colby comes after him. The girl has major problems and looks to Matt for salvation.

Matt is good as a protector. He learned by taking care of his little sister and keeping her from finding out about the lies that separate their family members into their own boxes.

With Skye, Matt is in over his head. Skye is a cutter, shoplifter, druggie, and prone to violence. She is also a liar. It becomes Matt's mission to help her and make her feel safe and wanted, but Skye expects a shocking return for their time together.

If you enjoy thrillers, this short novel is packed with nail biting suspense. But if you like things to be neatly tied up in the end, choose another book. To me Gail Giles' surprising ending, where not everything is nicely solved or even explained, is just right for this page turner.
