ke Schwartz, sheriff of Picketville, Virginia, falls heir to a dead body that is on the line between two counties. He opts to take the case and then realizes he knows the corpse - back from the days when he worked for the CIA.

his brings that group back into his life with silly gadgets and cloak and dagger moves. He suspects them of the murder. Then there's the FBI with an immature area head who is unsure of himself and gives stupid directives. A real comedy of errors. A man is running all over using stolen credit cards. Romance finds its spot in this tale.

rederick Ramsey brings both humor and suspense into this fast-paced story. The funeral scene is very moving and touching. True pathos well done. I related, having been involved in a police funeral (my father-in-law) and also one where the classic car club showed up en masse (my husband).
I
ke's ongoing romancing of the local women's college president is dicey but fun to watch. Ike's mother's illness is another touching time in a novel that seems to cover so many emotions and wraps them up well under one cover. A good read.
