Ellen McKenzie and her fiancé, Chief of Police Dan Dunham, agree to attend a wine festival dinner at the urging of Ellen's niece Sabrina. Little did they know that more than fine wine would be served at that dinner. Murder is the entrée.

The irritable and irritating chef, Otto Messinger, is found face down in a wine fermenting tank. Things go quickly from bad to worse when Sabrina is suspected of the foul deed. Sabrina and her husband Mark are the new managers of this California vineyard and the dinner was to have put them on the map ... not in jail.

This engaging cozy moves at a good pace with very likable characters. Aunt Mary is particularly endearing with her odd choice of clothing. Romance hangs in the air - both with the engaged couple, and also between Aunt Mary and her new beau. The process of producing wine is spelled out so well that even I could understand. And Murder for Dessert is a fun book.
