ifteen-year-old Juliana and her nine-year-old siblings are dragged away from their home in California to England by their British mother. The trip will be a trial separation from the children's father. They move into a cottage in Blackthorn, a little town on the coast that is popular with artists.
J
uliana is just like any other California teenager, except she doesn't remember anything that happened before she was found alone at night on the beach. Five-year-old Juliana was soon adopted. Her mother is an artist and her father an architect.
H
er mother's school friend Liza is murdered within a day of their arrival in Blackthorn. Juliana is the only person who isn't sure the unpopular Liza was murdered by the town lout. Her questions make her a target. Meanwhile, something about Blackthorn is causing Juliana's forgotten memories to return in unreliable clumps.
R
eiss has several mysteries to her credit and
Blackthorn Winter
is one of the best.
