That Siamese cat is at it again, helping his owner Qwilleran to solve two murders. The Cat Who Went Up the Creek is the twenty-fourth in the delightful Cat Who ... series. Qwill, Koko and Yum Yum stay at the Nutcracker Inn in Black Creek to help the owners decide if the inn has bad vibes. That problem more or less solves itself. But when a body shows up in the Black Creek, Qwill and his crime solving Siamese take off on the trail of the murderer.

Koko takes a liking to some photos and scatters the solution at Qwill's feet. The cat has done it once more. The touches of whimsy inherent in this series prompt the reader to curl up - preferably with a cat in lap - and enjoy downright blatant fun. If it's possible to read about murder with a smile on the face, these books will make it happen. After the first few chapters, that darn cat seems to take on human qualities. Wouldn't surprise me if some day Koko utters his first recognizable word.

Qwill is like a lot of us. He doesn't like to cook, but does enjoy good food. The author always has Qwill eating meals I would like to try. Also, Braun gives us good background fodder. We may not know just where Moose County is, but we know the people and their forebears well. Qwill always looks for interesting people to write of in his twice-weekly column in the Moose County Something. As a result, the reader gets to meet some very unusual people. Worth reading the book just to meet these wonderful characters.
