Francesca Dunroy loses a family heirloom when she gets caught up with a detestable rake; she saves herself from being raped but now needs to devise a plan to get back the heirloom. Francesca and her father seem to have been shunned by society after Francesca's mother died and her father quickly remarried a younger bride.

Scottish Justin Maddox is attending his first party as a newly titled Duke - it happens to be Francesca's ball. He heads out of the ballroom and into the dark hallways where he suddenly finds himself being fervently kissed. Francesca is horrified when she discovers that she has seduced the wrong man (she thought he was the rake) but Justin can't get her out of his mind. And Justin's past has some dark and dangerous elements that will come back to haunt the two of them and destroy the happiness that they begin to long for.

Bedding the Heiress is a fast paced story that you won't want to put down. The storyline is refreshing and the characters charming. Justin had vowed to avoid falling for London ladies, but fell head over heels for Francesca. Francesca was devastated when her father remarried and kept turning away suitors but Justin soon captures her heart. Cathy Maxwell brings them together with elements of danger and suspense that keep readers turning the pages.
