issing You
is the third in
Degrassi The Next Generation Extra Credit
graphic novel series based on the TV series. The book opens with a one page '
Previously on Degrassi ...
' summary to set the scene: after Darcy introduced Spinner to a Christian students' organization he determined to change his ways; and pregnant model student Liberty planned to give up her baby for adoption.
N
ow we see Spinner insist to Jimmy that he's '
a changed man
'. After Darcy heads to bible camp as a counselor for the summer, he gets a chance to prove it, helped by a guardian angel, who urges him to '
say goodbye to Spinner the sinner
', and hindered by '
a horny little devil
' who encourages his dark side. As he tries to deal with this, Spinner works hard to get Darcy back, while Marco counsels him on setting the boundaries of relationships. In parallel, friends tiptoe around Liberty, who has to deal with having given her baby up, and ends up fighting with her parents.
T
hough it's basically teen soap opera, these are credible characters with real life problems, and the graphic novel format - like the TV screen - gives them immediacy and emotion.
