Murder Unfolds: A Stain-busting Mystery    by Sharon Short Order:  USA  Can Avon, 2007 (2007) Paperback     Reviewed by Mary Ann Smyth Sharon Short's sixth in the Stain Busting Series - Murder Unfolds - has protagonist Josie Toadfern giving a speech honoring her junior high school teacher, Mrs. Pearl Oglevee. Before the speech, she is handed a note claiming that Mrs. Oglevee did not die of a heart attack but was murdered! That's like waving a red flag in front of a bull. She wasn't called Josie Nosy for nothing. Josie and a coterie of her friends travel four hours from Paradise, Ohio to Port Clinton of the same state to attend the Great Walleye Drop on New Year's Eve, to celebrate Josie's birthday. Instead of a giant ball, as is dropped in New York City at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, Port Clinton drops a giant plastic walleye. This is where the plot becomes convoluted to a degree that a family tree is almost needed, given the three generations involved. Pay close attention. It's interesting. The relationship between Josie and Mrs. Oglevee is a neat twist. I did find the reasons for murder a bit stretched, but I enjoyed the fun that went with it, as well as reading on and seeing the author pick up every single thread and weave them into a satisfactory ending.
